Simon Public Relations Group Wins Top Prize in Community Relations

Agency Also Honored for Special Events at Philadelphia Pepperpot Awards

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—December 4, 2009--A strategic media relations campaign for Shire Pharmaceuticals highlighting three community relations programs in three months garnered Simon PR a first-place Pepperpot Award in community relations.  Sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, Philadelphia chapter, the Pepperpot Awards recognize local excellence in the field of public relations.  Simon also received a second place prize in special events for a lively media event shining the spotlight on PNC’s new signature initiative, PNC Arts Alive.

In just three months, Shire gave hope to 25,000 children, collecting a tractor-trailer load of donations, refurbishing the Feltonville Playground, and hosting Shire Day at the Please Touch Museum with free kids’ admission. Simon PR’s aggressive public relations campaign generated 6.7 million media impressions for Shire in 12 weeks time.  One of the world’s leading specialty biopharmaceutical companies Shire is a company fully focused on a single purpose: to enable people with life-altering conditions to lead better lives.
